  1. Sry for the double post, but I’d recommend to maybe forward this to the main page, since I believe that a lot of people don’t even know about the blog^^

  2. @11rcombs:
    Good work ๐Ÿ™‚
I may as well dump the rest here too ๐Ÿ˜›

    @buchno:
So er how was your trip? Next time, get your proportions, shadows and angles correct. And DO NOT wear the same darn clothes either – kinda a dead giveaway unless you were an anime character yourself.

BTW: I’d still seed as much as I could, not for rewards, but purely for prestige.

  3. Am I the only one who read ignoring responsibilities for DOTA 2 and empathized immediately? That game can really eat a huge amount of your time if your not careful, in a good way.

  4. Hello,
I’ve heard about this kind of companies a few yeas back.
Never took a closer look, shame on me.
Anyway I’ve tought about it and I can collide with your thoughts on money wasted through the middlemen.
This is clearly a better way to help out people that can make something out of it, get the opportunity to change their chance in life.
A few friends have small debts with me and I’ve been considering that this would be the right place and time to donate.
    Offcourse will I be participating.
I’ll be posting my results after I made a few house calls, mostlikely within three days.
….and Chiyachan, I’m not in it for the bp or whatever.

    Thanks.

  5. Hello, to all.
It took me a bit more time than expected but finally it came around.
I had the liberty to discusse this topic with some friends and….
some made a personal loan, others combined, it was my time worthy.

Thanks for posting this topic Chiyachan.

Although you may consider putting it on the main page(news) once a year.
Don’t think it would be harmfull.

  6. I was disappointed to see that all the original photos were tracked down. That’s some absolutely horrible photoshopping!

I don’t quite know what to think of this. Is this actually a pathetic attempt to get people to seed? Really now? Or is it a joke?

I sure hope it’s the latter, otherwise Chiyachan seems pretty desperate

  7. I get that there is Hiragana and Katakana. but when ever I visit a Japanese web site I get this ๅๅ››ๆ—ฅ that looks like some form of Hexadecimal encoding. What is that ๅๅ››ๆ—ฅ and how do you read it. In video games and books you never see Japanese like ๅๅ››ๆ—ฅ but on the web there it is.

  8. Hello Chiyachan,
Could you tell me if there is a ‘Bakabt’ team present on Kiva?
If not would it be a problem to activate one on behalf of Bakabt?
I now use my country as team but it would be nice to have one from here.
    Thanks for your time.

  9. Hi brunoais, you shure did go some years back!
Not all my cup of tea but still some fine shows you mention.
    Does bring back niece memories!
Some I’ve seen and some not, a few I’m gonna take a look closer.
    Thanks.
btw: the link on the mainpage to redirect to this blog doesn’t work, at least not for me.

  10. Thanks for putting all this thought into your recommendations, brunoais! Of your favorites, I’ve only seen Cardcaptor Sakura. Which I loved and would heartily recommend.. I also would probably not re-watch it — though I don’t re-watch ANYTHING. Unless to share with a friend or something. Life is too short. Some of the related series are incredible, and even better.. especially for an older audience: Tsubasa Chronicles, xxxHolic,… I also loved Magic Knight Rayearth, especially once it got past the dismal part. One of those series that I found to be a great happy sleep lullaby :). Of course, the xxxHolic enterprise (especially with the production value of some of the OVAs) is top-notch.

I have such random taste, and none of your recommendations are incompatible with it… so I will begin by taking your word for it that Ojamajo Doremi is worth a look-see, and have a look-see!

    Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Thanks. Ojamajo doremi is definitely worth-see. It is not for everyone, just like every media that exists but, if you like Cardcaptor Sakura, I see no reason for not liking Ojamajo Doremi, specially when it picks up the pace :D.

Tsubasa Chronicles, xxxHolic, etc… All those are in my list to watch… at some time. But first, I want to get some things around it; both manga and anime (even though they are not required to understand the story).

    • OK, have watched some of the first and 44th episode of Doremi… Definitely have a good feeling about the series. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Mangas. You’re probably wise. I have this personal issue where I’m lazy with mangas.. I never owned a comic book or manga in my life… And I don’t like reading on a computer — especially for pleasure — and don’t have an eBook reader or anything… But I know that, just as with novel–> film adaptations, manga–> film/video adaptations usually suffer in many departments… A movie script is like a short story in comparison to a novel, and often essential elements are dropped (sometimes completely changing the whole point of a story)… and mangas, being graphic art, also almost always have better art in the mangas, which is a shame to miss (a lot fewer “frames” to paint..) Having glanced at some of the xxxHolic mangas, I know the art I saw is stunning compared to the animes, even though the art in the animes is well above average too. But story is probably the main reason to read/view originals of anything before their adaptations.

I have read a few one-shots, used manga art for desktop backgrounds, etc., but never spent much time with mangas yet. My loss… so far in life!

After my Doremi preview, I’m thinking you might appreciate Tongari Boushi no Memoru (Little Memoru) (1984-1985). Great feel-good escapism and engaging stories, albeit sans magically-equipped girls. Memoru is a young (and miniscule) alien girl. She grows up through friendships with some humans (teens) that offer her life lessons. The series — curiously enough for an anime — seems to be set in France. It has a very romantic feel (innocence/happiness, breathtaking landscapes, theme music) although there are always challenges to overcome. The teen friends are well-off young artists (the main one a pianist). A current favorite for when I really want to relax ๐Ÿ™‚

Best modern mahou shoujo I’ve enjoyed is probably the delightful romp Puella Magi Madokaโ˜†Magica… I think almost anyone can appreciate it — it’s a brilliant farce. Loaded with references, it helps if you’ve seen a lot of mahou shoujo before, but I don’t think it can readily go unappreciated regardless. Downside: only one season.

      • Oops! I thought I had answered you. Sorry about that.

Definitely have a good feeling about the series. ;-).

About manga-> anime. I’ve seen those too much. The best examples I can remember now are “chokotto sister” and “Elfen Lied”. Much more the latter! The anime focus much more on the immature violence and the fight for power (that appear in the manga, btw). The manga includes those but it also includes the purpose and the reason of why it is like that. Most characters also become very meaningful. The fight between Nyu and Lucy is much better explored and explained in the manga. The anime has it but… It’s disappointing.

It may be hard to find a book I like to read but when I get it… I just devour it! The books I like to read are a really super tiny subset of the available ones, btw ;).

About, “Tongari Boushi no Memoru”… It’s kinda old… I’ll try it! My personal favorite to relax is “kamichu!”, followed by “Aria”. They are both sooo calmm….

“Puella Magi Madokaโ˜†Magica”… Eh… Guilty :)? I liked it. Good stuff and not too much horror that would make me not like it. I still wonder if 1 season was bad. No doubt that it really was a good watch!
