Fail of the week

Recently we had a user who get into a heated discussion and apparently didn’t value anyone’s opinion other than his own, very true to his username actually. Discussion there gets a little heated which causes the user to lose his temper. Unfortunately beside the warnings given by from other users, asking him to cool down a bit, he finds that the best option is to start insulting and cursing other members…

From this point, staff gets involved – 5 day forum ban was to be expected, hopefully to get him to cool down a bit and realise the error of his ways. This however, does not help the situation as the user is now harassing other members through private messages on the tracker… That happens to be the last straw, and the user is now fully banned from BakaBT.

The story would have ended there, however, the ban triggers our system to disable a second account, one of a user who was participating in the argument as well… Plot thickens… Continue reading →

Membership Milestone Reached!

Twenty three days ago, BakaBT reached a milestone figure of registered accounts. We hit the big 1,000,000 member mark. In order to celebrate this achievement I sent out a PM to the person who signed up BEFORE and AFTER to see if they’d be willing to talk to me about their experiences and the like.

Just for Kagenoryu

User Kagenoryu is thinking of unregistering his account, but not just through any ordinary method. No, he wants it public and noticeable so people know his reasons for doing so. Unfortunately, at the moment our system does not send out notifications of user-pruning to all users.

In Kagenoryu’s interest, this is perhaps the next best thing we can do: help publicise his possible intention to unregister. I don’t think we enjoy a very large readership, but I hope this post gets noticed enough to fulfill Kagenoryu’s wish.

* kureshii spends yet another silent minute, in memory of another user who might have to fade into anon-ship.

So many souls we have lost… but we must push on. There is much work to be done.

It seems the site came back up again while I was asleep; Leaseweb found we were no longer being spammed with heavy traffic, and reconnected us.

Not forgetting that we are being threatened with another DDoS in a week’s time (by the same guy), I will say it is probably too early to be thanking people and bringing things to a close, but I don’t want the rest of this week to go by without any appreciation from us either.

We weren’t originally planing to blog about this guy, but he really kept pushing it – well I guess we just went ahead with it.

Protip: don’t tell us your plans to (attempt to) cheat:

I made this account because my real account (i previously told you it was my bro’s account) in my own PC was suspended because i logged in from a friend’s account and i cant access the Web IRC thingy. Page doesnt load after the 3-line disclaimer. I made this account to take links of animes and dl them as a public leecher and just to dl a few GB of hentai and get banned and then i would never come to BBT again. But i guess everything changed. Now let me google “How to change your IP”.
