Just for Kagenoryu

User Kagenoryu is thinking of unregistering his account, but not just through any ordinary method. No, he wants it public and noticeable so people know his reasons for doing so. Unfortunately, at the moment our system does not send out notifications of user-pruning to all users.

In Kagenoryu’s interest, this is perhaps the next best thing we can do: help publicise his possible intention to unregister. I don’t think we enjoy a very large readership, but I hope this post gets noticed enough to fulfill Kagenoryu’s wish.

* kureshii spends yet another silent minute, in memory of another user who might have to fade into anon-ship.

So many souls we have lost… but we must push on. There is much work to be done.

Hey, I noticed! Score +1 for the blog post! 🙂

    Sayonara Kagenoryu-san.

  2. Oh, poor Kagenoryu! I will forever miss you, and die pining. *sniff*

Note: I didn’t actually RTFA (someone might see me!), so I /am/ missing out on, well, most of the humor. I’ll just construct some likely dialog (monologue, perhaps?) in my head, and assume the world changes to make that true.

    Quote from Kagenoryu’s Profile :

I hate .mkv – nowadays even more than .ogm – , as there are only about 15% of all anime-fansubs in mkv containers I’ve seen that were working correctly. (after installing CCCP things got worse)

    * Xtras duly notes that Kagenoryu has successfully drawn attention to the fact that another incompetent user is likely to leave BakaBT. Shall we celebrate now?

If you have hardware encoding h264 in Matroska, it is no brainer. However there are much of seniors who live generations behind and have old Pentium 4 with AGP support, (or old laptop) which is quite decent computer even today, if you are’t gamer.

When I look gamer statistics from Steam, about 5% of gamers have hardware, which wouldn’t run H264 well. Fast survey at generic torrent sites tells that 20% of people prefer Divx over H264 in anime.

It is easy to say that fork 500€ and buy a new computer, but what for? I can honestly say that I don’t see the difference between H264 and Divx. There might be some noticeable difference in live action, but this is anime site.

On the other hand it might be a time to jump Blu-ray bandwagon and buy a player which supports Matroska files. On the other hand DVD is cheaper and good enough and there are the limit how many times you want to watch Avatar or Batman. IMHO it might be a worth while to wait a little longer and see if the 4th generation of 3D goggles are actually any good.

Matroska is my god and my religion says anybody badmouthing it must be tied to a chair and forced to watch very crappy American animations dubbed in French until they can speak it fluently. Trust me, French dubbers are horrible. You will pay for your crimes Kagenoryu!!!
